Greatest people in the world helping the needy. I like to volunteer Mondays and Tuesdays, because it puts reality in to my life while the world seems to be going crazy

It gives me joy helping to meet other peoples by doing God's work while volunteering.

I do not believe that there is any excuse, reason, or justification for people to be truly hungry in my neighborhood or in my city. I volunteer at New Hope Community Food Pantry to do whatever I can to stop hunger.

I initially volunteered to help people who were hard hit by the economic slowdown. Even though people lost jobs and some lost their homes, they should not have to worry about food their families.
After 3 years , there has been a very pleasant bonus to volunteering. I have made many special friends among the other volunteers. These are people who care about making a difference in the community. We have over 10 different Church congregations represented by the volunteers at New Hope. It reinforces my faith that there are so many good people in the world .

I have also been volunteering at the Pantry for about 3 years. What started out as a way for a newly retired person to fill some time has become so much more than that. I often tell my friends that working at the pantry, and helping our clients, is the most rewarding thing I have ever done.

I have made this comment to people: "You can attend church every week, but it's not until you get out into the community (and into the food pantry) that the Gospel comes alive." Working here at the food pantry has helped me to meet people who I would probably never come in contact with otherwise. This continues to stretch me and to move me out of my comfort zone. I hear the stories of others and I am moved into action on their behalf. I continue to look for new ways to help alleviate the suffering that I see around me.

I agree with everyone that the volunteers make the food pantry a special place. Plus you can see that your efforts are greatly appreciated by the people you are helping. It is sad that so many people in our community have to worry about having enough food for themselves and their family. I would like to think that the problem of hunger in our country will be solved in the next 10 years, but we have a long way to go.

I came to your pantry for the first time and was truly touched by the kindness and generosity I received and just want Chuck and Everyone to know how much I appreciate everything and everyone.
I have just stopped getting teary eyed a short while ago. You are such a blessing. THANK YOU AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
